Labuschagne Left Out from Australia's ODI Squad to Face India
Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from Australia's three-game ODI series against India, with high-performing Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw getting a surprise inclusion.
Performance Issues Lead to Omission
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the ODI side following scoring just one run in his two batting efforts during the top-end series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a top score of forty-seven in his last 10 ODI innings.
The batsman has played 68 one-day internationals and amassed 1,871 runs at an average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a Test recall ahead of the Ashes starting in Perth on 21 November.
Renshaw's Return and Team Updates
Recent performances suggest of a return to form with 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw made a century for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
The left-hander may to make his white-ball international debut in the forthcoming series against India after last being included in an ODI squad in 2022.
The left-hander has played 14 Tests with the most recent appearance in India in 2023 but is also aiming for a return to the Test team as Australia search for a solution to their top-order woes.

ODI captain Pat Cummins is still unavailable as he aims to recover from a spinal issue by the time to lead Australia in the opening Test of the Ashes in November.
Squad Selection Strategy and Schedule
Australia have announced a squad for only the initial two T20 matches against India with the Ashes on the horizon, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-game T20 series due to a wrist problem sustained in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will captain both the ODI and T20 sides after scoring a hundred in the last match against New Zealand to seal a two-nil victory last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be player management through the later stages of the series as individuals prepare for the cricket season through domestic first-class matches,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The bulk of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an important period in the preparation for the World Cup next year, however we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously get ready specific players for the Test series ahead.”
Australia’s three-match ODI series against India commences on October 19 in Perth, before the opponents play five T20 internationals from 29 October.
